VENTUBE

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Be sure to identify the correct fitting instructions for your aircraft type!
Basic Instructions below, followed by Windscreen “V” Brace & Retractable Gear types;

Basic Fitting Instructions:

CABIN

1.Remove existing air vent tube from wing root aluminum tube (Cessna

PN0413163-18 &/or 0413155-12/13)

2. Slide Ventube inter tube out of the liner (external tube),

3. Slide liner into wing root to the ring on liner,

4. Remove liner and wipe a small amount of corrosive resistant compound around the outside surface of the liner (If you desire) and slide the liner back into the aluminum wing root tube,

5. Slide the Ventube inter tube into the liner after completing the EXTERNAL installation

EXTERNAL

1. Remove wing root fairing between cockpit and wing,

2. Drill or punch a size 4D (3/32”) diameter hole thru Cessna Aluminum wing root vent tube not closer than 0.5 inch nor more than 3 inches from cabin end,

3. Slide the Ventube Liner into the Aluminum vent tube in the wing,

4. Install the High collar lock washer on the # 4 sheet metal screw (screw is the holding mechanism for the Ventube),

5. Insert the Ventube inter tube and insure it is not binding,

6. Replace the Wing root fairing,

7. Repeat for passenger/co-pilot side as appropriate.

Notes:

1. If necessary to install Outside Air Temperature Thermometer, drill a small hole in center of a cap and install existing OAT thermometer. WARNING: OAT temperature may be incorrect when Ventube is closed due to NO AIR MOVEMENT past the probe.

2. If you desire the Ventube to have additional friction so that the Ventube will stay in an interim position you select, place one of the Velcro pieces between the inter and outer tubes of the Ventube. Specifically, remove the inter tube from the outer tube by aligning the spleens on the tubes. Place one of the Velcro pieces inside the outer tube approximately one and a half to two inches down into the outer tube between the spleen slots and replace the inter tube.

AIRCRAFT with “V” BRACES in Windshield:

NOTE:Ventubes are furnished without the Caps being Glued on Inter Tube - please specify at time of order!

1. After installing the outer tube in the wing root aluminum tube, (EXTERNAL above), install the “O” ring on the inter tube approximately 1” from the end with the air slot. Insert the Inter tube into the Outer tube leaving 1 to 2” of the inter tube protruding out (the end with air slot) into the cabin,

2. Apply small amount of glue, i.e. two to three drops, on each of the areas marked in RED on the outer surface of the inter ring in the back side of the Cap,

3. While holding the inter tube, push the Cap onto the inter tube and quickly rotate the Cap 60 to 90 degrees,

4. Hold Cap on inter tube for 60 plus seconds. LEAVE VENTUBE OPEN FOR 24 HOURS!!!!

5. Follow the rest of basic instructions.

AIRCRAFT with RETRACTABLE GEAR:

Some later model 172 RGs and 182RGs had the Cessna Wing Root Aluminum vent tube from the wing port had the tube at the cabin end, cambered/crimped in (reduced diameter) and the Cessna sliding vent tube was cambered out (increased diameter) to keep the Cessna vent from blowing out.

To install the Soros Ventube tube, it is necessary to open the wing root fairing and take the cambered Cessna sliding vent out thru the wing root. Then you remove the cambered-in part of the Cessna wing root aluminum vent tube, usually 1/8 to 3/8 of an inch so the Soros Ventube will slide into this tube to the wing port.
